Why is it important?
This paper adds to the growing body of knowledge regarding likely functional/physical deficits in sufferers of hip pain. A greater understanding may help with development of more effective rehabilitation both prior to and after hip surgery.
Perspectives
Gaining insights in the physical capacity of hip pain sufferers has been useful in my role as a physiotherapist overseeing the rehabilitation of injured soldiers. Once we have benchmarks in performance, we can develop interventions to optimize recovery.
