What is it about?

We compared a fitness devices to an expensive gait laboratory setup to see just how accurate and reliable this device was. By showing accuracy and reliability, this device can be used outside of a lab to provide meaningful insight into runner's form, as well as provide valuable feedback to runners looking to improve/monitor their form.

Why is it important?

If you are looking to use a fitness device to help you improve your fitness or your running form, it is important for the information to be both accurate and reliable. Small changes in the way you run can make a large impact, and the ability to get real data about running form in live time outside of a lab is huge. In this article we show you if one watch can provide valuable data similar to an expense lab setup.

Perspectives

This is a great first article in a series of articles we are hoping to publish showing how advances in technology can be used in a clinical or even a personal setting to show people what they are actually doing when they run. I personally run with this watch to help me monitor my own form, and I also use it with my runners and athletes to assess and re-train their gait. I wanted to make sure that what I was saying based off the watch was accurate and reliable.
