Why is it important?

Dry needling is being used by an increasing number of physical therapists. Examining the current evidence is important to understand the effectiveness of dry needling.

Perspectives

Supports that dry needling has a treatment effect on pain and pressure pain threshold, but not that it leads to greater improvements in functional outcomes when compared to other treatments. We need more high quality randomized clinical trials against other commonly used interventions, with long term follow ups.
