Hépatite aiguë d’allure cholestatique probablement due au fénofibrate

What is it about?

Fenofibrate is an ancient and frequently used hypocholesteremic medication. Very rare chronic, fibrosing or acute cytolytic hepatic lesions have been described. However, this seems to be the first published case of acute cholestatic hepatitis.

Why is it important?

Fenofibrate is so largely used without any hepatic complication that one would not considere its responsibility in case of hepatitis. However, it's of paramount importance to detect the responsible medication as quickly as possible to avoid a longer and, possibly, more severe development. Therofore, do not forget this rare possibility.
