What is it about?

This work describes the design process that a senior-design-capstone team took to ideate, analyze, prototype and test a compact system to drop payloads from small unmanned aerial systems. The system autonomously navigates to a target on the ground using a steerable parachute and GPS coordinates, then employs camouflage and 3D-printed lattices to protect the payload on impact.

Perspectives

We brought together students from multiple geographically separated universities to design a system to meet DoD requirements. All learned a great deal about design, engineering, and working together as a team.
