What is it about?

This paper shows implementation of a theoretical model developed in an earlier work. The model was run at M=20 and the refractive index field was predicted. An experimental validation was performed at a lower mach number to verify the ability to measure thermal and chemical nonequilibrium.

Why is it important?

An understanding of the refractive index at hypersonic speeds can aid with laser sensor technologies.

Perspectives

This is my first published paper, and there is much to be improved, especially in my upcoming AIAA Aviation paper, which will focus on my more recent tests. The theoretical cases are shown to resemble the experimental measurements much more accurately.
