What is it about?

Flow along cavities produce an aeroacoustic resonance. Predicting the dominating frequencies by numerical simulation is possible at reasonable computational effort. Their amplitudes, however, require simulation methods which resolve at least partially the turbulent fluctuations inside the cavity and thereby require a high computational effort. The present work evaluates different approaches and demonstrate that with proper treatment of the turbulence the required computing time can be reduced by 90% compared to established methods.
