Why is it important?
This has important applications in blast wave and explosion simulations in mining industry and tunnels or supersonic airplanes passing closely over urban terrains. Also has applications in micro chip industry where electrical shock occurs at micro scales. It also has applications in exhaust engines for noise reduction, as well as mixing in Pulse Detonation Engines and high speed train tunnels that replicate the compression waves because of piston effects
Perspectives
This is a great comparison of computational simulations and experiments. Numerical simulation’s are in two dimensional And are in good compariosn against 3D experimental measurements.
