Why is it important?

This is the first instantiation of a practical approach to integrating modeling, testing, and uncertainty quantification to develop a digital surrogate authoritative truth source for aeronautical systems. An enduring authoritative truth source is the critical enabler for applications of Digital Engineering over the lifecycle of a system. Digital Engineering connects Information Technologies like the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, and Big Data Analytics to engineering operational technologies like design, manufacturing, testing, operating, and sustaining system.

Perspectives

Preparing this article enabled me to translate some of my original thinking about digital thread and digital twin concepts into a specific, integrated methodology to develop an authoritative truth source. It outlines the processes and suggests the tools that will be needed to succeed.
