What is it about?

This paper is about how graphs (the mathematical construct with nodes and edges) can be used to represent a large database of design tools that depend on each other concerning their inputs and outputs. It is shown how a Python package was created that can create such a graph, and how basic graph operations can be used to understand (using visualizations) and change the graph to obtain a strategy to solve a design problem using the coupled analysis tools.

Why is it important?

This graph-based approach is a key component of the latest generation of frameworks to perform collaborative design in large teams. Without this component, systems tend to become too large and complex to grasp them very quickly. Furthermore, the paper presents the set-up of the KADMOS package and can therefore also be read to familiariaze oneself with the Python package.

Perspectives

I hope this paper provides a clear overview of the structure of the KADMOS package and clearly shows its motivation for development and future opportunities.
