What is it about?

Interception of moving targets with constraint on terminal impact angle is considered for a surface-to-surface planar engagement. A guidance law that generates a guidance command proportional to the product of line-of-sight rate and line-of-sight angle, is proposed as a prospective solution. Characteristics of look ahead angle is analyzed and a closed-form expression for its maximum is obtained. Simulations are carried out for both ideal and realistic interceptor models against a receding and an approaching target validating the practical feasibility of the proposed method.
