What is it about?

The sidelobes are the main sources for the increase in the level of ISIR. Thus they pal a role in the deterioration of the fidelity of the received signal. Hence, eliminating these sidelobes will dramatically increase the the quality of the signal at the receiver. This paper suggests an algorithm which is called SLIMB as an approach to cancell out the sidelobe effects without increasing the system complexity. This algorithm can work indepently from the array topology and can be easily installed with any sensing array.

Why is it important?

This algorithm suggested in the paper is the first algorithm that is able to completely neutralize the sidelobe effect. It can guarantee Signal to Interference power ratio to be infinite. Thus implementing it with any array would lead to a significant reduction in the power required for the transmission due to the high quality, interference free environment.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure and challenge for us because till the date of publication there was no available theory or a method that can be used as a lead toward the goal which is the sidelobe elimination. Besides, publishing this work in a prominent worldwide, high reputation conference was a great opportunity to show the world that achieving such mind bugling illusive goal like infinite SIR level is possible only by changing the way that we should think of the problem rather than solving it using the traditional methods.
