What is it about?

The main objective of this work is to show appropriated available methodologies used to calculate and modeling aerodynamic coefficients in the distinct aircraft design phases. Other objective is to present the main recommended practices and general structure of the aerodynamic model to attend the requirements of different technologies during design cycles, such as Loads and Flight Dynamics.

Why is it important?

This work shows how to get longitudinal aerodynamic coefficients and derivatives from wind tunnel tests, theoretical and empirical methods. It will focus on methodologies and techniques that are in public domain and are easy to be used.

Perspectives

Nowadays is difficult to find good guides to perform the aircraft aerodynamic modeling in a appropriated way. The authors of this paper intend to cover this gap showing several ways to calculate or estimate de aerodynamic coefficients in several phases of the aircraft design.
