What is it about?

A commonly implemented wind turbine turbulent inflow noise prediction model is validated against a large volume of experimental data for the first time.

Why is it important?

The instrumentation used in this study thoroughly characterizes both the inflow field and the acoustic signature of the turbine in order to determine the accuracy of several facets of this commonly used model, including the noise directivity, the scaling of noise with turbulence levels, and the third-octave spectral shape of the noise.
