What is it about?
A user-centric study on designing thematic auditory displays for spacecraft control systems with focus on ergonomics and psycho-acoustics.

Why is it important?
Currently no care is put into providing meaningful alarms that signal consistently for urgency, severity and source of system events. This leads to operators ignoring, misunderstanding, underestimating the reason for an alarm which in turn may lead to operational mistakes, and/or to operator fatigue.
Perspectives
Very scientific approach to designing meaningful alarms for control systems, that put the operator in the center of the problem. Was considered as an outstanding paper and selected for publication in the conference book of Spacecops 2016
