What is it about?

The motion of a deployed solar array during a thrust event can be too large. This paper explains the simulation of the solar array model and the development of a controller that can reduce the motion by a factor of 3.

Why is it important?

Space structures must be light, but there are also stiffness requirements. A controller can help a solar array behave as if it were stiffer than it actually is.
