Why is it important?

Experimental method using oscillating model rig in estimating aerodynamic stiffness and damping in the form of stability and control derivatives in transient case.

Perspectives

Aerodynamic data is very important in determiming vehicle stability and control characteristics. Various methods have been introduce in estimating aerodynamic stiffness and damping from numerical to experimental approach. However in transient case the aerodynamics stiffness and damping is strongly influenced by shapes and reduced frequency and sometime lead to inconclusive results. Exploring new methods that could provide realistic and accurate aerodynamic data is becoming more important especially in the area of unsteady aerodynamics.
