What is it about?

The importance of multiquantum transitions to describe non-equilibrium behavior in high temperature flows is well known. We study for the first time the effect of the multiquantum transitions in a blunt body hypersonic flows. The study delineates regions in the shock-layer where multiquantum transitions have the largest effects. We show the need for higher multiquantum jumps in numerical predictions for improving shock-standoff comparison with experimental data.
