Why is it important?
Ray effects are eliminated for combinations of higher-order azimuthal discretization and refined azimuthal discretization around the azimuthal angle endpoints.
Perspectives
Ray effects arise from the approximation of the continuously varying angular nature of the radiative intensity by a specified set of discrete angular directions. The propose angular discretization will be very useful to eleimated this fundamental shortcoming of the discrete ordinates/finite volume solution of the radiatve transfer equation if adopted in commercial software such as ANSYS Fluent
