What is it about?
When air or water flows over curved surfaces, like an airplane wing or a ship's hull, it creates turbulent pressure changes that cause unwanted noise and structural vibrations. Using advanced simulations, we studied how curved walls alter these pressure fluctuations compared to flat ones. We found that traditional methods fail to predict these changes accurately on curves. Based on our results, we developed a new model that reliably predicts pressure variations on curved surfaces. This can ultimately help engineers design quieter, safer, and more efficient airplanes and marine vessels.
