Computational Investigation of Aero-Optic Aberrations in a Supersonic Interceptor with Lateral Jets

What is it about?

When a high-altitude missile is using side-jets for control, jet flows may disturb the light seeker’s view and makes it harder to track a target. We computationally study the effects of jet over a range of altitudes and angles of attack. The results show that a single jet with high angles of attack alters the flow structure on the seeker's view, leading to a substantial change of aero-optic characteristics.
