What is it about?
Shock tubes are used in science and engineering to study high-speed gas flows and chemical reactions. This study examines how using two diaphragms instead of one affects shock wave speed and gas heating. Experiments and simulations show that mid-section pressure controls shock behavior, with lower pressures leading to stronger shocks and higher pressures causing a second acceleration phase. These findings help improve shock tube designs for aerospace, combustion, and industrial applications.
