What is it about?

Blade-vortex interaction noise is the most distinctive noise source of helicopters and often drives community annoyance. A novel blade-vortex interaction noise reduction concept is proposed that is thought to have a minimal effect on the aerodynamic and structural design of the rotor system. A computational analysis has been performed and the results suggest that this concept can substantially attenuate blade-vortex interaction noise.
