What is it about?

Circular free jets, where fluid (gas or liquid) passes through a nozzle into an infinite region, can be found in many technical applications to fulfill demands as mixing, heating/cooling, printing, propulsion and many more. For jets with small velocity the process of transition from laminar to turbulent flow is important. Single and multiple (bundles) of low Reynolds number free jets are modeled via numerical simulation based on a Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM). The results are compared to experimental data and calculations with other methods and show that LBM is able to predict the main characteristics.
