What is it about?
Nowadays, high fidelity simulations of rotating detonation engines (RDEs) are computationally expensive for practical engineering applications. This work investigates the development of projection-based reduced order models (ROMs) for high-accuracy but low-cost RDE simulations. Three different ROM methods are investigated and evaluated. Specifically, a newly developed adaptive model order reduction (MOR) formulation has been successfully demonstrated to construct high-fidelity ROMs for the RDE applications with considerable reduction in computational time.
