Effect of Tripping and Domain Width on Transonic Buffet on Periodic NASA-CRM Airfoils

What is it about?

The transonic buffet instability occurring at the edge of the aircraft flight envelop is investigated using high-fidelity / high-accuracy simulations. Sensitivity to the state of the boundary-layer upstream of the interaction and numerical domain width are quantified and recommended guidelines are proposed.
