Physics-Informed Acoustic Liner Optimization: Balancing Drag and Noise

What is it about?

Noise reduction devices called acoustic liners are used on aircraft engines. However, they also tend to reduce fuel efficiency by increasing aircraft drag. We show that acoustic liners can be designed to provide noise reduction while minimising the drag penalty.
