What is it about?

The functional material, i.e., the shape memory alloy, has been introduced mathematically with laminated composite structure to show the enhancement of structural stiffness. The material nonlinearity under the elevated temperature has been modelled using the marching technique. The effect of geometrical parameters and material properties have been computed using the proposed model. Beforehand, the model accuracy has been established by comparing the numerical and experimental results.
