What is it about?

As on today, analytical approach to evaluate critical buckling stress is possible only when type of mode shape is known. A new analytical approach for symmetric and asymmetric modes are validated for composite monocoque shell based on a compendium over fifty years of the reported studies on buckling of composite monocoque shells. Then analytical equations are derived for the composite sandwich shells and validated using FEM and available test data. Range of honeycomb core transverse shear modulus corresponding rigid, moderate flexible and flexible core are identified using FEM.
