What is it about?

In hypersonic airbreathing scramjets, shockwaves can reverse the air flow direction near the surface. This leads to various problems with the performance of the engine such as excessive vibrations, larger heating of the surface, etc. We here propose a new approach to get rid of the flow reversal induced by the shockwaves by injecting fuel upstream of the point of flow reversal.
