What is it about?

Oscillating hydrofoils are a type of marine energy converter that work in a similar fashion as a turbine to extract clean energy from moving water. As the hydrofoils move, they generate vortex wakes that impact the marine structures and subsequent hydrofoils downstream. This work uses machine learning tools to automatically classify and cluster these vortex wakes, which will improve the efficiency and design of oscillating hydrofoil systems.
