What is it about?

Transpiration Cooling can enhance the degree of reusability of spaceplanes and rockets. In this study, we experimentally examined the flow behaviour of porous Ultra-High-Temperature-Ceramics -- known for their high melting point (> 3000 K) -- for the purpose of transpiration cooling. The flow features demonstrate a good uniformity and thereby make them suitable candidates for this application.
