What is it about?
Shock trains are systems of shock waves which exist within the supersonic jet engines to compress flow ahead of the combustion chamber. We perform simulations of shock trains where strong fluctuations are added at the outlet. We find that the response is highly dependent on the forcing frequency. High frequency disturbances dissipate more easily whereas lower frequency forcing causes very large shock wave oscillations.
