What is it about?

Damage initiation in metals is a localized phenomenon, that can quickly grow into a catastrophic failure in an high-speed flight environment. To accurately predict fatigue initiation in titanium structures, we need to inform a structural simulation with grain-level information, which is achieved through a multiscale modeling technique with model order reduction technique.
