What is it about?

Wake vortices generated by landing aircraft pose a potential risk to following aircraft. To mitigate the wake turbulence risk, so-called plate lines have been installed at runway 16 of Vienna airport that accelerate wake vortex decay during final approach, the flight phase with most wake vortex encounters.
