What is it about?
During flight, aircraft might encounter strong air gusts that can significantly affect the safe and effective operation of the aircraft. Gust generators are devices that enable testing of the aerodynamics of new aircraft models in wind tunnels to ascertain the aircraft's performance and optimize its design when subjected to these undesirable gusts. The present work reports on the development of a new gust generator with the potential for improving on the performance and the versatility of existing devices that produce transverse gusts (which are gusts that can alter the direction of the air relative to the aircraft).
