What is it about?

Enlarge laminar flow extension conflicts with the desire for keeping the shock wave under control. Wing profile design optimisation on its own is not sufficient to strike a balance between the two conflicting factors. By combining shock control bumps with unlocking the wing sweep, we have demonstrated an effective optimisation of an infinite swept wing with large NLF while keeping the shock under control for a reduction of the total drag.
