What is it about?

In the current paper, the dynamic flow evolution during the restart process of hypersonic inlets are experimentally studied. Two inlets model with different internal contraction ratios are examined. We find that the restart process is highly dependent on the historical effects. Although the inlet may start successfully after the flowfiled establishment of wind tunnel, it cannot restart with the same downstream and incoming flow conditions if a large scale separation bubble stands ahead of the inlet. Therefore, double solution field may occur for one inlet. Moreover, an intermittent buzz flow is observed firstly during the restart process, the underlying mechanisms are analyzed.
