What is it about?
Aeroelastic response including LCO due to freeplay is computed in the presence of in-flight loads. A general, intuitive and robust method based on the Dual Input Describing Function is developed for this purpose. Explanations are provided for the observed phenomena including the stiffening effect of the preload leading to attenuation/quenching of the LCO.
