What is it about?
As a promising low-cost technique for predicting unsteady aerodynamic load from the vorticity field, the VFM method is extended to general viscous flows, with both forces contributed from vorticity in the flow field and on the body surface considered. Additionally, contribution from added mass has been included. The accuracy of the method on truncated domains and under coarse sampling is studied, and we also demonstrate how it can be used to analyze the force contribution effect of a given vortex.
