What is it about?
In a break with convention, dynamic stall is used to drive a vertical axis wind turbine. The trick is to increase the blade chord lengths relative to the radius, thereby exploiting lift overshoots when dynamic loads are high. This leads to virtual morphing, or drooping, of the leading-edge that further ameliorates the negative impact of dynamic stall.
