What is it about?
Aerodynamic shape optimisation involves the use of computer algorithms to automatically improve on engineering designs by reducing aerodynamic drag. The automated manipulation of design geometry by a computer requires careful consideration to ensure the optimisation produces a useful result. This work highlights the importance of maintaining shape quality during automated design optimisation and introduces a new methodology for doing so robustly.
