What is it about?
Spacecraft often use large structures which must be packaged to fit in a rocket to then deploy in space. This paper presents a novel way of using origami to reduce mass and packaging volume and at the same time increase deployed area. This is done by eliminating the need for deployment mechanisms and support systems.
