What is it about?

When a suitable airfoil moves at constant speed and angle of attack in air, it generates enough lift to support the airplane. In some cases, the airfoil needs to sink and this sinking usually induces additional forces. This paper shows how the force changes and what will happen in flow if a plate sinks in supersonic flow following a symmetrical acceleration and deceleration sinking mode.
