What is it about?

We presented a study on subcritical LC arising in nonlinear aeroelastic system of an airfoil with freeplay. Major emphasis is put on the prediction and mechanism analysis for the subcritical LC. A simple yet efficient approach is established to predict the boundary of the LC, i.e., the lowest flow velocity for the appearance of the LC. Based on the prediction rule, furthermore, a reasonable mechanism is uncovered for the subcriticality of the LC.
