What is it about?
A simplified mathematical formulation, developed here for the description of weakly exothermic oblique detonations with supersonic post-shock flow, is shown to reproduce computationally the same variety of phenomena as full numerical simulations used in the past. The proposed formulation significantly reduces the complexity of the computations and decreases the number of parameters involved, making thorough parametric investigations more accessible and facilitating improvement of physical understanding.
