What is it about?
The prediction of fan noise propagation by aircraft engine is an important step in the aircraft design process and certification. From an engineering analytical tool, we show that prediction by using the traditional approach (assume uniform flow in intake duct), in presence of acoustic treatment, can lead to erroneous results in terms of in-duct transmission loss and far-field radiation.
