What is it about?
The flow around a slender pointed body at high incidence has fascinated researchers for several decades and has been studied extensively. Even though the body geometry is simple, the flow around it is intricate, and wind-tunnel experiments have indicated that measurements are not repeatable at high angles of attack. This non-stationary behavior leads to significant side forces that culminate with chaotic-like dynamics when the body is elastically restrained.

Why is it important?
The non-stationary behavior at high incidence is unpredictable and is of particular importance for maneuvering projectiles and rockets that operate in severe environmental conditions.
