What is it about?

Two inceptor schemes, varying in the design of cockpit inceptors and in their functional mappings, were deployed to two fixed-base flight simulators, which were used to simulate a lift-plus-cruise urban air mobility aircraft. Study participants, grouped based on their prior aviation experience or lack thereof, flew these two simulators through a series of handling qualities task elements to determine the ease with which they could perform these simulated tasks with little to no training. The collected data revealed interesting insights into the advantages and disadvantages of each inceptor layout in the context of the Simplified Vehicle Operations paradigm.
