What is it about?
In this paper, we introduce two ways fixed-wing aircraft can fly in aerial combat engagements to down opponent team members, then train agents in simulation to switch between those maneuvering methods and directly deciding on how they turn. We test these trained aircraft agents in simulation against teams of agents using the original maneuvering methods and show that the trained agents are better at downing their opponents than their opponents are at downing them.
